Viking days Den Oever confirmed

My first Viking encampment this year has been planned: the Viking days in Den Oever! This event is organized by Vikingen Informatie Centrum The museum was build in 2004, after a silver treasure was found nearby at Westerklief on Wieringen. Every year they have the Viking days on the farm field nearby, and so it is again this time!

After last years succes they were more than happy to announce this years date: 26th and 27th of Juli. A different date then usual, so keep that in mind! I really can't wait to go there again, I'm already planning out my encampment and looking up new recipes! Last time I was there I was not fully prepared for everything, like we did not have shading, or stools and my clothing wasn't really there yet either. But this year it will be different!

My kit has been expanded with new tunics, pants, shoes and handmade socks. I also have a wooden bed frame this time and my kitchen is also better equipped with fancy plates, cups and knives!

The event will be full of things to do like: baking bread, archery demo's and maybe even making fire! There will also be a fighting demonstration by the Bloodaxes. Many Vikings will lay out their wares like needle bound hats and socks, clothing, boardgames, wooden chests, spoons and cups. But also hand forged jewelry, knives and arrows. Many things to see, and many things to do. Do I see you there?!
