Grave scene photoshoot

While participating in the prehistovember challenge on Instagram one of the prompts on the list was: 'last resting place'. For a long time I wanted to create a grave scene with all my handmade stuff. To show all my precious things in one photo. It also displays my crafts and hobbies. I included my bow and arrows, handmade candles, my weaving supplies and some things I'm rather proud of like my Skjoldehamn belt and pretty turn shoes.

We also managed to get the cat involved! We had to bribe her with a lot of snacks and when she finally figured out we were not going to take her to the vet everything was fine. The cat heard in my voice that we were looking for her and that was were she decided to hide.

So there we went: placing my best stuff on a blanket covered with reindeer hides. The scene barely fitting into my livingroom. The whole thing was interesting to say the least. It was sort of morbid to think about your own resting place but also comforting at the same time. Like, if I would have been laid to rest like this one could hope I would come back in a time like that. Or is that not what reincarnation is? I'm joking, I know it is not, but let a girl dream.

I set up a lot of my stuff, like my game board, my bow and selfmade arrows, stonework, tinder pouch, weaving supplies and my selfmade candles. Oh, and lets not forget the cat! She took a while before she got into the scene. Like I said before she needed a big bribe: piles of candies. But it resulted into amazing pictures!

We ended up with so much photos, it was insane. It took a while to filter trough and I still have many on my phone right now. But, for this post I got it limited to three: two finished ones and one from behind the scenes.

While my scene is not based on a specific grave find, some people do. This is on a whole other level of reenactment if you ask me. They recreate everything the found for this chosen site. From jewelry to specific pattern and colors of the wool. But yeah, since I can't decide on a specific site I just used my best and loved stuff.

I can't thank my dear friend enough for helping me with this project. It had been on my mind for a long time and with this prompt list coming along, it sparked it all again. Even though this theme might not be so happy, I hope you liked it!
